The IP Operations Engineer will provide administration and maintenance of all production and other mission critical technical systems, as well as assist in the implementation of hardware and software upgrades, system integrations, vendor-based solutions, and other data center optimizations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and resolve internal and external customer trouble tickets within Remedy and provide Tier 2 application and engineering support.
  • Troubleshoot and repair network problems.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Create and maintain accurate network documentation and diagrams.
  • Communicate and interact with IP network team members and NOC personnel in Maryland and New York, to ensure coordination and cross-training.
  • Provide internal and external customer support, with the ability to successfully troubleshoot Tier 1 and Tier 2 network issues.
  • Recommend new processes, procedures, equipment, and software.
  • Provide network operations support in a 24x7 environment, as needed.
  • Work after hours and on a rotating on-call, as needed.

Qualifications

  • CCNA certification
  • 3-5 years of networking experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and working experience with Cisco and/or Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Demonstrated strength in operation of static routing and dynamic routing protocols, such as RIPv1, RIPv2, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP
  • Demonstrated knowledge and working experience with IP Telephony, VoIP, and IP Video Teleconference equipment
  • Familiar with VPN and IPsec technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with external and internal customers
  • Strong network troubleshooting skills and the ability to confidently work independently and within a team environment
  • Experience with MS Office and Visio
  • UNIX, Linux, and/or Windows server administration experience preferred
  • Knowledge of iDirect and/or Vipersat systems preferred
