The Sales Engineer will conceptualize, develop, scope, and price communications solutions in support of Globecomm’s Sales Organization. This position will support Globecomm’s pursuit of new business and in expanding business with existing customers. The Sales Engineer will participate in identifying and/or supporting product/service improvement, and development of new product and service lines that complement Globecomm’s core business.

Responsibilities

  • Support Globecomm's Sales organization in developing technical solutions for communications networks composed of various elements and using various transmission mediums with emphasis on SATCOM and wireless solutions. Applications will range from SCADA and M2M to broadband enterprise-level connectivity for government and commercial customers located anywhere in the world, on land-based, maritime, or airborne platforms.
  • Perform requirements definition inclusive of solicitation review and Q&A, design, equipment specification, pricing and documentation in collaboration with in-house
  • Principally support developing compliant and compelling solutions for Government and commercial proposals.
  • Transition winning solutions to Implementation Engineering.
  • Interact effectively with Proposal Managers and organize and author proposal sections with text and graphics based on identified solutions.
  • Interact effectively with customer representatives in support of the Business Development organization and with vendors in accomplishing work objectives.

 

Qualifications

 

  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government issued security clearance.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or other applicable technical degree with 7+ years of applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and applicable work experience.

  • Knowledge with Machine to Machine Communications platforms, software, hardware, and sensors.
  • Knowledge and design experience with VSAT signaling and access technologies including SCPC and TDM/TDMA and hybrid solutions.
  • Knowledge and network modeling and design experience for managed VSAT network platforms from vendors such as iDirect, Romantis, ViaSat, Comtech EF Data, HNS, and/or others inclusive of using vendor-furnished network design tools and methods.
  • Familiarity with SATCOM link analysis.
  • Familiarity with IP networking.
  • Ability to remain current with SATCOM and wireless technologies.
  • Critical thinker and excellent problem solving abilities.
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Visio).
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%, in support of sales activities, including extended periods on-site at Globecomm or partner company facilities during proposal development.

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • Experience with Enterprise Capacity Management application or similar tool.
  • IP network design capability inclusive of routing, switching, and WiFi equipment specification (primarily Cisco).
  • Familiarity with secure Government voice and data solutions.
  • Familiarity with WAN optimization techniques and appliance-based solutions.
  • Familiarity with mobile network technologies and solution components.
  • Practical knowledge of current U.S. Information Assurance/Information Security regimes, practices, and standards. 
  • Ability to define thorough Project Management Plans, WBS, and Project Schedules commensurate with typical government and commercial proposal submission requirements.
